Scott Schuster Appointed Director of College and Career PathwaysThe Longwood Board of Education has appointed Scott Schuster as the District’s Director of College and Career Pathways, effective July 1, 2022. Since 2015, Mr. Schuster has served as the principal of Longwood High School.

In his new role, Mr. Schuster will advance community and business partnerships that support and improve student outcomes, seek out new grant opportunities, collaborate with leadership teams, and expand career pathways for immediate and future workforce needs. 

Mr. Schuster began his career as a teaching assistant at Longwood High School in 1996. He accepted a position at Miller Place High School in 1997 as a special education teacher; in 2001, he returned to Longwood High School as a special education teacher. He served as special education department chairperson during his tenure before becoming the assistant coordinator of special education for Sayville Public Schools in 2010. In 2012, Mr. Schuster returned home to Longwood and served as elementary and preschool special education director.  

“I’m looking forward to expanding relationships with our local and regional business partners to develop and evaluate new course offerings and facilitate and design progressive teaching and learning opportunities for our students,” said Mr. Schuster. “As a proud graduate of Longwood, I am extremely honored for the opportunity to serve the community in this new capacity.”

Mr. Schuster received his undergraduate degree in social science at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, his master’s degree in special education, and a professional degree in Education Administration from Dowling College.  

“Since the launch of the College and Career Pathways program, Mr. Schuster has been a leader in the development and expansion of many important opportunities and programs which empower students to discover areas of study that reflect their talents, aspirations, and interests for future college and career paths,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lohman. “We wish him much success in his new position.”
