Student Success Initiative
The Student Success Initiative (SSI) is designed to decrease course failures and increase graduation rate through team data analysis and a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS). SSI is innovatively addressing challenges to student success by developing a culture where data is discussed and evidence-based solutions are planned together. Staff members are personally invested in process and pedagogy that aligns with implementing a proactive approach to promoting success. Teachers were trained in a framework designed to look at students more holistically that clearly defined benchmarks for both academic and social learning. With the support of the BOE, SSI teams meet with students and contact parents through email, telephone and home visits, to help them use available resources. Individual student progress is the topic at quarterly SSI meetings, and SSI is the subject of workshops, orientations, and assemblies. The combined PBIS and MTSS framework is a strong companion to the SSI team approach to studying data and providing individualized support to struggling students.
